. Re.articulation .
The idea of this collection is to challenge the concept of continuity and articulation within an object by adding mechanical elements in each piece.
Articulation refers to the placement and styling of elements in architecture. The concept of articulation and continuity is explored in terms of the visual language within a fashion accessories and the placement of pieces on the body.
All the mechanisms were driven by the motion of one finger to promote the interaction between the product and the user, giving them the chance to compose motion along with the function of the product. All the pieces would return to its original state when no force was applied, so the product went through the process of completeness, demolition and reunion once the mechanism happened.
The artefacts were designed to sit on the area of body that the hands can reach. It ranges from the head to the bottom of the hand, with pieces extending to reach the legs and each pieces were named by the motion they create.
This collection combined the use of natural materials such as wood and leather, and innovative materials like Avonite which is a polyester worktop material mimicking the appearance of natural stone. Different materials were used to deliver unique visual and sensual experience to the audiences. Traditional hand crafted leather techniques and metal work were combined with the latest technologies like 3D computer software and CNC machining to create organic elements that sit within the geometric structures.
